Box Making

  • Top Sheet Laminating (Singleface Laminating or Single Face Laminating)
Bonds a heavy weight litho label, 10 or 12pt SBS sheet or pre-printed sheet to the flutes side of corrugated material. It produces a higher quality graphic and finished container. The addition of a “top sheet” virtually hides the flutes so it no longer looks like corrugated once it is folded up. Typically used for very high end like alcohol, cosmetics and tobacco promos, displays and packaging. In higher quantities the top sheet can be cheaper than traditional litho laminating. And yes the glue is water based.
  • Litho Laminating (Litho-Laminating or Litho-Laminated Packaging)
The offset litho sheet or “label” is adhered to the flat face of the corrugated board. Creates a high quality graphic display or packaging but the corrugated flutes may show ever so slightly. Allows us to adhere 4-color process printing on displays. We use water-based glues but can also use a resin or rubber based when necessary.
  • Four-Spot Color Direct Print
Just as it sounds, the graphics are printed directly onto the board. Through new technologies, the quality of the printing is very comparable to the litho label laminating, and provides an economic benefit to packaging production. (Technically this may be true if you are talking about hi graphics printing in 4c process flexo – we can’t print like that. Our direct print is very good but looks nothing like a litho label if it contains an image – more like newspaper.)

Die Creation
We have sharp steel templates made that are used for cutting. Like cookie-cutters, on a larger scale, they are used in addition to printing plates to create special shapes from flat pieces of corrugated, or printed sheets, before they become boxes.

Die Cutting
The process of using the sharp steel dies to cut special shapes for labels, boxes and containers.

Flexographic printing
Printing on a rotary press (like an updated letterpress) using water-based ink to print directly onto the corrugated board. Used for various types of food packaging, it is also great for printing large areas of solid color.

Fulfillment
We build it. You provide it. We pack it. We ship it. Or any combination thereof. We can pack-out displays with your product, ship requested items to various locations, coordinate various packaging production requirements, and more.

ISTA Testing
ISTA testing is the International Safe Transit Association service that tests packaging for integrity, packaging strength, and performance for your packaged goods. We are a member of ISTA, and use an approved facility to perform the testing.

JIT (Just in Time) Delivery
A way to reduce distribution, storage and handling costs for our customers, we schedule and highly control production of your packaging needs to get products to you, just before you need them.

Offset lithographic printing
Using a process based on the repulsion of oil and water, printing is accomplished when an image is transferred onto a rubber plate. The plate contains image areas which attract oil-based ink from the rollers, and the non-image areas attract a water based “fountain solution” to keep them ink-free.

Silk-screening
Using a porous nylon screen, artwork is transferred to the screen and a photographic process allows ink colors to flow onto the surface. Also known as screen-printing.

UN and DOT Testing
A series of tests including dropping, stacking, hydrostatic pressure, leakproofness that are performed, and consistently documented, for packaging that will ultimately contain hazardous materials. We coordinate having the tests performed, our customer provides us with their Hazard (DOT) label info and a copy of the test results, and we create the art for the boxes.

Warehousing
Do you need storage for the packaging we produce, or your product that will be packed into the containers? Our warehousing can be combined with our fulfillment services, so that your company and facility doesn’t require the additional space or staff.
